Ive made drawings from the paintings at the National Gallery before, but on this visit I wanted to add some context by including the gallery space, the gallery assistants and visitors to the gallery. This approach also gave me the opportunity to look at the relationships between paintings hung side by side.Continue reading National Gallery
Brick Lane, East London, 2017, A5
I had a walk up Brick Lane on a Sunday afternoon this May. It was a lot more crowded than it used to be. Its well established on the tourist trail. But the flea market is still going; albeit in a smaller area around Sclater Street, which is where most of these drawings were done.
Drawings made in Balham, South London between 2009 & 2011.
These drawings were made around Clapham Common & Clapham High Street, 2009-2012. The exception being the one looking down on the 60’s looking church on Grant Rd. which was done from Clapham Junction station.
FAIRWELL TO THE GROSVENOR, STOCKWELL.
I thought I’d mark the sad closing of the Grosvenor in Stockwell by posting a few drawings that I made there.
It’s a great old London pub of the kind that are getting rarer these days, I went there mainly for Club Integral, which was held in the back room and will have its final night there on Friday the 18th July.
Club Integral at the Grosvenor, Stockwell
Possibly the most varied, entertaining and unpredictable regular live music night that London has to offer, I heartily recommend that you get yourselves down to Club Integral.
The nights at the Grosvenor will end on July 18th, but it continues at The Others in Stoke Newington, and heres hoping they’ll find another South London venue before too long.
Many thanks to all concerned.
I draw mostly during the breaks between artists at Club Integral. So, images of an empty stage; but for the gear set up to be played, and the audience/ artists having a drink and a natter during the break.
A walk around Bermondsey in 2012,
This is an ad hoc collection of stuff done at different times in various parts of the city.
