Last September I spent an afternoon in Thomas Gontar’s workshop at Glynde Forge. Fire, smoke and steam. The clanging of the hammer on the anvil. Tools, patterns and piles of metal make activity at the forge a wonderfully atmospheric subject.

Newhaven Open Call 2018

Newhaven Open Call is an exhibition curated by Nick Marsh, Nick Bush  & Helen Turner at UTC, Harbourside in Newhaven. Its open on the weekend of 25th, 26th & 27th August then the weekend of 1st & 2nd September. Details here. 

I’m showing A4 drawings that I made around the town on the 15th and 17th August. The first day was spent mostly around the Harbour and the second day I walked around North Quay Road and Denton Island.

MUD, Artwave 2018,

MUD will be at Wisdoms in Glynde, as part of Artwave 2018.

Taking part in Mud are Abigail Norris, Isobel Smith, Tim Copsey, Lucy Newman, The Baron Gilvan, Bek Cameron & Bob Dixon. The work on show will include painting, moving image, sculpture and natural-glazed wood fired ceramics.
The exhibition will be open for the last weekend of the festival only, which is the 1st & 2nd of September, 11am to 6pm. The Artwave catalogue is here.

The Lady & the Unicorn, Paris, 2017

I saw the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries at the Musée national du Moyen Âge in Paris in the Autumn. They’re really great reference material for the prints and paintings I’m doing based on Medieval subjects. It is believed that the tapestries depict the senses.

Hugh Rae, Lewes High Street.

I have some work in the Hugh Rae Craft Space on Lewes High Street this December.

There’ll be a variety of the hand-coloured lino prints that Ive been making this year and I’m planning on printing up some books of drawings that will be for sale.

The show will run from the 1st – 31st December, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day
